In an effort to promote eye health during Ultraviolet Awareness Month, May 1 – 31,
Molina Healthcare and HealPros are teaming up to host a free public event. Molina Healthcare and HealPros will provide a free pair of sunglasses and diabetic eye exams to all participants in attendance. Exposure to UV rays can burn delicate eye tissue and raise the risk of developing cataracts and cancers of the eye.
“HealPros has worked closely with Molina to provide diabetic eye examinations on behalf of seniors in MI, and we viewed participation in this event as a logical extension of our commitment to improve the health of seniors in Flint, and throughout the State of MI” said Milan Popovich, Senior Vice President with HealPros.
The health fair, sponsored by State Representative Sheldon Neeley, will also include a low impact fitness demonstration, to teach attendees another way to maintain a healthy body. Participants will also receive a healthy snack and refreshments.
“Health is important to the quality of life and we want residents to have a great quality of life. When our residents leave this fair, we want them to leave with good information, contacts and feeling as though they have been serviced that day. I am proud to partner with Molina in this effort.”, said State Representative Sheldon Neeley
The health fair is free for participants and is open to the public. Media is welcome to attend.
According to the Prevent Blindness Organization, more than 2.7 million Americans age 40 and older suffer from glaucoma. Nearly half do not know they have the disease— it causes no early symptoms. Prevent +Blindness will provide insightful information about this “Sneak Thief of Sight.”
